Yahoo auctions is a decent source. I helped a friend buy an R32 off there when I lived in Japan.

Hmm, doesn't bode well for what I was intending to look at. (I may have heard that American muscle is supposed to be somewhat cheap there and that importing them from Japan to Sweden is a lot cheaper than importing them from the states)

Looking at it right now. HA!, apparently they have some kind of category on the front page specifically for AE86's.

I can't remember since it's been a few years since I purchased a car in Japan but I think Rakuten is worth a look as well.

Yahoo sure seem to have a lot of cars (and other crap), I'l make sure to look through it. As for Rakuten, they only seem to have maintenance car parts :(

From what I've seen, American Muscle isn't any cheaper there than in the US. Also not a whole lot being sold there. You can find some deals, but some things are weird. Like Porsches wholesale there for what they retail in the US, but you can get good deals on other Euro (LHD even) cars at the dealer auctions.

Yeah I've seen that now. Thing is that all the importing paperwork and all that is supposed to get a lot cheaper when you're importing from Japan instead of the USA. Less lighting and emission modifications and such is also needed. American muscle cars sold in Japan apparently also comes with the steering wheel on the left side, for some strange reason (which is good).

I loosley know someone that makes a pretty good living out of doing this so I know it's doable, just needed to see what the market is like.

They need less mods coming out of Japan? Are we talking older cars? What needs to be done to them to make them legal where you are?

I'm planning to start importing cars from Japan to the US starting next year. I know there is a decent market in cars being exported from the US, and I would be interested in getting into that as well.

The LHD cars in Japan surprised me. Lots of Euro in LHD even when they made the models in RHD...good for me though. I'm sure I'll be mixing in some Euro imports with the JDM cars I'm planning on bringing in. I looked at bringing American cars back, but the economics rarely work out.

Cars I'm primerily looking at right now are C5's and 4th gen Camaros. Big money bringers in Sweden since they're still considered somewhat new. As I've understood it, they should pretty much be ready to roll in Sweden when they get here, exept for regular mechanical issues and such.

And LHD cars is apperently a thing over there. Something along the lines of making other people see how rich you are, since you can afford to import cars instead of just buying them...

Anyways good look with your buisness! As I've said what I'm looking at is still very much ''in the air'' ATM, but you gotta start somewhere.

I work for a car exporter ( IntegrityExports.com ) and we source all our vehicles that we sell from the auto auctions in Japan. If you are seriously considering buying from the auctions, there are two things I would recommend you do whether you end up going for it (and buying through us) or not:

1. Go to our site and sign up for 2 weeks of free access to the auctions. You'll be able to see the cars coming up daily in 120+ auctions all around Japan, as well as see the market pricing by searching the sold prices for similar cars sold in the last 4 or 5 months. This will give you a good idea if the cars you want are available as well as the kinds of prices they sell for.

2. When you are on our main home page, scroll down to the bottom and you will see links to pages covering every aspect of buying auction cars: How grading works, how to read the exterior condition map, how the export process works, different kinds of shipping and much more. Basically, it will take you a few hours to go through the information there, including the videos, but once you have done that, you really have a good idea what you are doing.

I hope this helps. Anyone with specific questions can contact us through the email etc. contact on the website or at oppo@integrityexports.com.
